The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) stated that Israeli occupation forces carried out a large-scale abduction campaign over three consecutive days of military aggression targeting the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank’s central part. During the offensive Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers also uprooted trees and bulldozed farmlands.
The PPS said that fourteen civilians were abducted, including the head of the village council, Amin Abu Alia, and the siblings of slain youth Hamdi Abu Alia.
Dozens of residents were detained and interrogated in the field, including entire families with women and children.
The invasion was accompanied by widespread destruction of agricultural land, including bulldozing large areas and uprooting thousands of trees.
Homes were attacked and vandalized, and residents were subjected to physical assaults, especially during abductions and field interrogations.
Media sources said Israeli forces also detained entire families for extended hours, during which they stole money and gold jewelry.
The PPS emphasized that field interrogation is a systematic policy used by Israeli forces during large-scale invasions of Palestinian villages and refugee camps.
Thousands of civilians have been targeted through this method since the beginning of the ongoing genocide, with a sharp increase in the northern West Bank, particularly in refugee camps. Eyewitness accounts from Al-Mughayyir described the use of threats, beatings, and psychological terror.
Families were threatened with direct execution by live fire. Interrogations focused on allegations of weapon possession, often used as a pretext for further violence.
Resident Najeh Salem Abu Alia testified that his children were subjected to field interrogations, including his seven-year-old daughter and ten-year-old son.
His eldest son, aged nineteen, and his ten-year-old were both beaten. His seven-year-old daughter was separated from the family and interrogated alone, while his ten-year-old son was taken to a military vehicle for questioning.
His fifteen-year-old daughter, another daughter, and his wife were also detained and interrogated. Abu Alia stated that the first day of interrogation lasted nearly three hours, during which soldiers vandalized the home and threatened to kill him and his children. The following day, another unit returned and interrogated him again for half an hour.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society stressed that Al-Mughayyir represents a broader pattern of comprehensive Israeli aggression targeting Palestinian communities, aiming to uproot residents and impose unbearable living conditions.
During the military invasion, illegal paramilitary colonizers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, invaded the village of Al-Mughayyir, mainly the Al-Khalayel area and attacked a farming structure belonging to the Abu Hammam family. They attempted to assault family members, though no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces continued bulldozing large areas of Palestinian-owned land in the village for the fourth consecutive day, in preparation for constructing a new colonial road.
Earlier, occupation forces had invaded the village and imposed a tight military siege before withdrawing at dawn.
Immediately after the army’s withdrawal from the village, the locals started replanting their lands and rehabilitating their farmlands and structures, in a message of determination and steadfastness despite the escalating Israeli violations.
Their withdrawal followed a series of violations, including assaults on residents and their property, destruction and bulldozing of agricultural land, and the abduction of dozens of civilians, including the head of the village council.
This campaign includes not only military actions but also ongoing paramilitary colonizers’ assaults, carried out with the accompaniment and coordination of Israeli forces. These attacks have escalated dramatically in recent years, especially since the launch of the genocide.
Since the beginning of the genocide, October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have abducted more than eighteen thousand Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including over five hundred seventy women and approximately fifteen hundred children.
These figures include those still held in detention and those released, excluding thousands abducted from Gaza.
