Israeli forces continued their escalation throughout Wednesday with multiple airstrikes on Palestinian civilians throughout the Gaza Strip. This follows Tuesday’s escalation – in which Israeli forces followed the US-secured release of an American-Israeli prisoner of war held in Gaza with a barrage of airstrikes, killing double the usual daily number of Palestinians.

Professor Ramy Abdu of the Euro-Med Monitor human rights organization posted, “Since Trump’s arrival in the region, the number of Palestinian civilian casualties in Gaza has doubled. Since yesterday alone, Israel has killed around 189 civilians, including 73 children and 38 women.”

11:59 pm update:

The bombings continued throughout the day and night on Wednesday, with no end in sight.

An infant was killed as Israeli occupation warplanes bombed homes in Khan Younis city.

Two civilians were killed and others injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a tent housing displaced persons in Al-Amal camp in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip.

A citizen was also killed and others were injured when Israeli occupation aircraft bombed the vicinity of Badr Mosque in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

In Khan Yunis, a citizen was killed and others were injured when the occupation forces shelled the vicinity of Abu Nuwaira School in the town of Abasan al-Jadida, east of the city.

The town of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip, witnessed heavy shelling from Israeli artillery, targeting civilian homes and the tents of displaced people.

In this context, the Israeli occupation forces threatened citizens living in residential blocks 633, 706, 785, 786, and 787 in the southern Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City to evacuate their homes, in preparation for bombing them.

10:36 am report

The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on southern and northern Gaza from midnight until early morning hours, Wednesday, has risen to at least 56, including 50 slain Palestinians in the northern part of the coastal enclave, in addition to dozens of injuries, medical sources have confirmed.

Israeli occupation forces launched a series of airstrikes and fire belts targeting residential homes in Jabalia refugee camp and Jabalia town, resulting in at least 50 fatalities, most of whom were children and women, and dozens of injuries.

Victims and injured individuals were transported to Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals, with many of the victims belonging to the Najjar, Sweilem, Moqbel, and Qatnani families. Several bodies remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes.

In the south, an airstrike targeted a tent sheltering displaced civilians in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killing a man, his wife, and their two daughters.

Additionally, several Palestinians were killed and many injured when Israeli forces struck a home belonging to the Abu Ammouna family in Al-Fukhari, southeast of Khan Younis.

Also, three Palestinians were injured when an Israeli military drone fired a missile at a home in Abasan Al-Kabira town, east of Khan Younis.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army intensified the bombing of the southern and the eastern areas of Khan Younis.

The Government Media Office in Gaza reported on May 8 that 38 hospitals, 81 health centers, and 164 medical facilities have been damaged, burned, or forced out of service due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 52,908 Palestinians, including at least 15,626 children, 9,807 women, 3,855 elderly individuals, 237 journalists, and 23 medics. At least 119,721 people—mostly children, women, and the elderly—have been wounded.

The figures remain incomplete, as many victims are still trapped under rubble or in areas inaccessible to rescue teams due to massive destruction caused by ongoing Israeli bombings and invasions.

Also Wednesday, the Chairman of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) Rawhi Fattouh said that the horrific massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Jabalia refugee camp and town, north of the Gaza Strip, and the bombing of tents, displacement shelters and homes, destroying them and their inhabitants, killing more than 45 citizens, including women and children, injuring dozens and leaving hundreds under the rubble, represents a dangerous escalation in the policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing practiced by Israel against our people .

In a statement issued by the National Council on Wednesday, he added that targeting children and women with warplanes, bombing hospitals, and the killing of more than 100 citizens in 24 hours under a stifling siege and lack of healthcare constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity that requires a practical international and UN stance to halt the brutal aggression against a defenseless people, provide international protection against genocide and ethnic cleansing, and take immediate and effective measures to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable.
