On Tuesday, the Israeli army continued the bombing and shelling of various parts of the destroyed Gaza Strip, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians across the besieged and starved coastal enclave.
Several Palestinians were killed, and others injured, on Monday night after Israeli soldiers fired a missile at a house in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
The family of journalist Ahmad Az-Zard reported that several family members were killed, including his brother, uncle, and cousins.
Ahmad, along with his mother and brother, sustained severe injuries and remain trapped under the rubble of a relative’s house that sheltered them in southeast Khan Younis.
In a phone call, relatives told the Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA) that journalist Az-Zard was injured in his back, and his mother was injured and lost consciousness.
They added that the army prevented ambulances from approaching the house and are firing at anyone who moves. With the destruction of the two-story house, many wounded Palestinians trapped under the rubble are calling for rescue.
Several Palestinians were also injured on Monday night in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school and an orphanage sheltering displaced families in Gaza City.
Local sources reported that Israeli aircraft bombed the Masqat School, which shelters displaced persons in the Az-Zarqa area of Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, resulting in several injuries.
Additionally, many citizens were injured in an Israeli airstrike on the “Al-Amal Institute for Orphans,” which also shelters displaced persons in the western part of Gaza City.
Several Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire at the Shuhada Junction, south of Gaza City. Media sources said the army installed a military roadblock in the area.
Many Palestinians attempted to cross the Israeli military roadblock to return from the southern to the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
However, Israeli military vehicles and helicopters opened fire on them, resulting in several injuries. The injured were transported to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The soldiers also fired many live rounds at Palestinian ambulances that arrived to transport the wounded at the junction.
Three Palestinians were killed, and eight others injured, on Tuesday evening in an Israeli airstrike on Nuseirat refugee camp. Medical sources said paramedics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) transported three slain Palestinians and eight injured individuals to Al-Awda Hospital after the army fired shells at displaced Palestinians and residents in the refugee camp.
The death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 41,615, the majority of whom are children and women, and the number of injuries has risen to 96,359 since the start of the Israeli occupation aggression on October 7. Thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as the occupation prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them. Among the slain Palestinians are at least 16,891 children, 11,458 women, 174 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000 when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
