Gaza faces a massive food gap and widespread hunger as nearly the entire population is in desperate need of food assistance, the UN World Food Program said, with only 10 percent of necessary food supplies entering Gaza since the beginning of the conflict.

“With winter fast approaching, unsafe and overcrowded shelters, and the lack of clean water, civilians are facing the immediate possibility of starvation," said WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain.

"There is no way to meet current hunger needs with one operational border crossing," she added.

"Without access to fuel, our ability to provide bread or transport food to those in need has been severely compromised… People are going hungry," said Samer Abdeljaber, Representative and Country Director in Palestine.

Israel approves transfer of two fuel trucks into Gaza each day for UN use
A political source told Haaretz that Israel's war cabinet has unanimously approved a joint recommendation by the IDF and Shin Bet to comply with a U.S. request to allow the daily entry of two fuel trucks into Gaza.

The fuel is needed for the UN efforts to sustain water and sewer infrastructure in the Strip. The cabinet's decision grants Israel the needed diplomatic maneuvering space required for its objective of eliminating Hamas, the source said.
