On Saturday dawn, Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinians near the main entrance of Jaba’ town, south of Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed the names of the two slain Palestinians as Ezzeddin Bassem Hamamra, 24, and Amjad Adnan Khaliliyya, 23, both from Jaba’.

Media sources said the soldiers assassinated the two Palestinians after ambushing their car near the Jaba’ town junction, fired many live rounds at them, and chased them to the Al-Fandaqumiya nearby village before firing a barrage of live rounds at their car, killing the two.

The Saraya Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, said the two were members of the group and added that they exchanged fire with the soldiers on the main road between Jaba’ and Al-Fandaqumiya.

It added that one of them was injured before they drove away, but the soldiers chased them, fired dozens of live rounds at their car, and killed them.

Earlier Saturday, the soldiers invaded the site of a former illegal Israeli colony in the area, installed a roadblock at the entrance of the Jaba’ town, leading to protests, and fired many live rounds at the Palestinians, wounding one in the leg.

Various Palestinian factions in Jenin issued statements mourning the two young men and Yazan Al-Ja’abri, 19, who died from his wounds at dawn and called for ongoing resistance until liberation.

The killing of the two young men brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli army fire in the first fourteen days of this year, 2023, to twelve, including three children.
The Palestinians Health Ministry said the soldiers killed 224 Palestinians last year, including two children; 59 slain Palestinians are from the Jenin governorate.

On Saturday dawn, Palestinian medical sources at Iben Sina Hospital in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, confirmed the death of a young man injured earlier this month near Jenin.

The sources identified the young man as Yazan Samer Ja’bari, 19, from Al-Yamoun town, west of Jenin.

They added that the soldiers shot Yazan on January 2, when the army invaded the town and detonated the home of two slain Palestinians, Ahmad Ayman ‘Aabed, 23, and Abdul-Rahman Hani ‘Aabed, 22.

The invasion led to massive protests before the soldiers fatally shot Mohamamd Samer Houshiyya, 21, from Al-Yamoun, and Fuad Mahmoud Ahmad ‘Aabed, 18, from Kafr Dan, and injured many others, some seriously.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched carrying Yaza’n’s body, chanting for unity and ongoing resistance until liberation and independence.
His death brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli army fire in the first fourteen days of this year, 2023, to ten, including three children.

The Palestinians Health Ministry said the soldiers killed 224 Palestinians last year, including two children; 59 slain Palestinians are from the Jenin governorate.

Three Palestinians Killed Following Clashes With Israeli Soldiers in West Bank

Three Palestinians have been killed Saturday night in the West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry says, bringing the number of
Palestinians killed by the Israel Defense Forces in the West Bank since the beginning of the year to 12.

Two of the men, 24-year-old Izz Eddin Basem Hamamreh and 23-year-old Amjad Adnan Khalilieh, were reportedly Islamic Jihad operatives who took part in a shootout with IDF soldiers near the village of Jaba’ south of Jenin.

According to witnesses, the two opened fire from a moving vehicle at Israeli forces stationed near the illegal outpost of Tarsala, when soldiers returned fire and struck them.

The third man, Yazan Al-Jaabari, 20, died from wounds he sustained on Jan. 2 when he was critically wounded by Israeli gunfire during a military raid in the West Bank, Ibn Sina hospital in the southern town of Jenin said.

Al-Jaabari was injured during an exchange of gunfire when Israeli troops stormed Kafr Dan village.

According to the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit, the Israeli military had been conducting an operation in the Palestinian village to demolish the homes of those behind the shooting that killed Major Bar Falah last September at the Jalameh checkpoint near Jenin.

Two Palestinians, including a gunman, were killed during confrontations with Israeli forces that day.

The Palestinian Health Ministry had identified those killed as Muhammad Samar Khoshiyeh, a 22-year-old from the Palestinian town Al-Yamun who was shot in the chest, and 17-year-old Fouad Muhammad Abed, who was shot in the stomach and thigh.

The death of Al-Jaabari raises to 10 the number of Palestinians killed during Israeli raids in the West Bank since the beginning of the year.

Israel ramped up its military raids last spring after a spate of Palestinian attacks against Israelis killed 19 people. Israel says the operations are meant to dismantle militant networks and thwart future attacks. The Palestinians see them as further entrenchment of Israel’s 55-year, open-ended occupation of land they seek for their future state.

The raids sharply escalated tensions and helped fuel another wave of Palestinian attacks in the fall that killed 10 Israelis. Nearly 150 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 2022, Israeli rights group B’Tselem reported, making last year the deadliest since 2004.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
