On Tuesday, illegal Israeli colonizers bulldozed large areas of Palestinian lands in Qusra, Jaloud, and Qaryout towns, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, to expand a colonialist outpost on stolen lands.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors Israel’s illegal colonialist activities in the northern West Bank, said the colonizers are trying to expand the illegal Yesh Kodish colony, and added that they uprooted and bulldozed large areas of land.

Daghlas stated the colonizers are ongoing with their illegal colonialist activities in several areas around Nablus.

In related news, the colonizers scattered poisoned wheat grains in pastures near the Khirbet Tana area of Beit Furik town, east of Nablus, to kill livestock and deprive the Palestinians of their land to displace them in preparation for seizing their lands.

The number of colonies on stolen Palestinian lands in the Nablus governorate is 13, in addition to 39 colonialist outposts.

Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”

Violation: establishing illegal outpost

Location: Jalud village

Date: August 30, 2017

Perpetrators: Yesh Kodish colonists

Victims: farmers of Jalud

Details:

On August 30, 2017, colonists of Yesh Kodish set up a caravan and a huge tent in a parcel of land founded in eastern part Jalud village in Nablus governorate . Not only, colonists opened a road in the area as a step to establish an outpost.

Reportedly, the target area was declared inaccessible for Palestinian farmers, who lost their wheat crop two months ago. Despite that farmers are not allowed in but through special permits, the occupation did not grant them such permissions. As a result, crops died and financial losses burdened the farmers.

The newly established structures are located in the natural block number 16; more specifically in the location known as "Shu'ub Khallet Al-Wusta". The lands are owned by Al-Hajj Mohammad family. Noteworthy, Yesh Kodish colony is only 200 meters away from the new target area.

The new act comes in time with the government's approval to pay 60 million NIS for Amihai colony's infrastructure, which is founded on confiscated lands from the natural block number 16 from Jalud's lands.

About Jalud:

Jalud is located 29km to the southeast of Nablus city and is edged by Qusra village from the northeast, Qaryut village from the west, Yesh Kodish and Ahya outposts from the east and Shilo colony from the south.

Its population mounts up to 598 people (2014 census). Jalud's total land area is 22,473 dunums, of 80 dunums are considered the village's built-up area.

Israeli colonies confiscated 2227 dunums from Jalud lands. Shilo colony that was established in 1978 confiscated 640 dunums from the village. Mizpe Rahel colony and other outposts namely (Yesh Kodish, Ahya, Eli, Adi Ad and Kida) are founded on confiscated lands from the village.

Bypass roads confiscated around 436 dunums from the village.

The lands of Marda are classified according to Oslo Accords as the following:

5541 dunums (25%) are classified as area B
16932 dunums (75%) are classified as area C

Land Research Center sees Israel continuous expansion on colonies in the West Bank and Jerusalem at the expense of Palestinian and lands a flagrant violation of Human Rights and all international laws and conventions, which prohibit disposition of public properties in occupied countries.

UN Security Council resolutions in regard to Israeli colonies:

UN Security Council resolution 446, article 3 "Calls once more upon Israel, as the occupying Power, to abide scrupulously by the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention, to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature and materially affecting the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population into the occupied Arab territories;"

Un Security Council resolution 452, article 3"Calls upon the Government and people of Israel to cease, on an urgent basis, the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem;"
Un Security Council resolution 465, Strongly deplores the continuation and persistence of Israel in pursuing those policies and practices and calls upon the Government and people of Israel to rescind those measures, to dismantle the existing settlements and in particular to cease, on an urgent basis, the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem;
