A crowd of Jewish worshippers overturned a car in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam on Tuesday night during the Yom Kippur holiday, after noticing the passengers were Arab. In a separate incident, three Bedouin Arabs were taken to the hospital after being attacked in the same city.

According to police reports, the five passengers from the town of Jaljulya were stopped near the entrance to the city by officers and asked to exit the vehicle due to the holiday fast. Just minutes later, a group of Jews from a nearby synagogue came and overturned the car after the passengers exited it.

During the same night, one Bedouin Arab was lightly injured and received medical treatment. Police later found two other Bedouin Arabs in the city who were attacked, one of them with a stab wound. Police say they are currently looking for suspects.

Roads in Jewish and mixed towns are customarily empty during the Yom Kippur holiday, although no law prevents drivers from taking their cars out during the holiday. Most Arab and secular citizens of Israel stay home on Yom Kippur, avoiding driving through Jewish towns out of fear.

"Where did we get to? Well – a lynching attempt in Bat Yam because the passengers in the car were Arabs," Meretz party leader Zehava Galon said on Twitter.

"To the poison that Ben Gvir injects. When you are brainwashed by the media every day that all Arabs are terrorists and terrorists should be eliminated, this is what happens."
