JERUSALEM, March 22, 2012 (WAFA) – The Israeli Magistrate Court in West Jerusalem ruled on Wednesday to expel of a minor from his home in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan and fined him $1300, according to Wadi Hilweh Information Center.
Elias Awar, 16, was ordered to leave his home and move to Jabal al-Mukaber neighborhood, not far from Silwan, and be placed under house arrest until his trial.
Four family members had also to put up $1300 personal bail to make sure Awar will not return to Silwan and will appear in court on trial date.
Awar was arrested on March 5 on allegations of throwing stones at Israeli settlers and police in Silwan, a hotbed for fanatic Jewish settlers.
Attorney Mohamed Mahmoud, from Addameer human rights organization, denounced the ruling as harsh and unfair since it keeps the boy away from his family and school.
