Late on Monday at night, Israeli undercover forces and soldiers invaded the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Jenin and exchanged fire with Palestinian resistance fighters before killing one and seriously wounding two others.

Media sources in Jenin said the soldiers surrounded the area of Ibn Sina Hospital after deploying undercover units driving civilian cars.

They added that Israeli military sharpshooters also infiltrated several buildings before using the rooftops as firing posts.

The soldiers then opened fire at the Palestinian fighters, leading to an exchange of fire before the army killed a former political prisoner, Abdullah al-Hosary.

Palestinian medical sources said Abdullah was shot in the chest and died from his wounds.

The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, said Abdullah was one of its members.

They added that the soldiers seriously injured two other Palestinians after shooting one with a live round in the head and the other in the abdomen and chest.

During the invasion, the soldiers stormed the home of Jamal Abu al-Haija and ransacked the property before abducting his son, Emad.

Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces after one militant opened fire on them in Jenin, Palestinian reports said on Monday night.

On Monday night, a large convoy of Israeli forces entered the West Bank city, and Abdallah al-Husari, 22, who belongs to the Islamic Jihad, shot at them. The Israeli security forces returned fire, killing al-Husari.

Al-Husari had previously been incarcerated in an Israeli prison.

According to Palestinian reports, Shadi Najem, 18, was critically wounded in the firefight, and succumbed to his wounds in the hospital early Tuesday morning.

According to another report, Israeli forces surrounded the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin, and exchanged fire with Palestinians there as well.

Earlier on Monday, Israeli forces detained at least 20 Palestinians in clashes in Jerusalem's Old City. Fourteen more were wounded, four of whom were rushed to hospital, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Confrontations between young Palestinians and police began as Muslims celebrated the Isra and Mi’raj on Monday, commemorating Prophet Mohammed’s nighttime journey and ascent into heaven, according to Muslim tradition.
