The Israeli army, on Wednesday, detained a large number of Palestinian civilians, including a former political prisoner, from the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said in a statement.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces abducted, Khalil Takfaji, the head of the Maps Department of the Arab Studies Society in occupied Jerusalem. Takfaji is a former political prisoner, and an expert in maps and Israeli colonies.
The office of the Arab Studies Society was stormed and searched by Israeli forces, computers were seized, and the staff were forcibly held in the office, during the operation.
Israeli forces abducted a Palestinian judge, Sheikh Iyad Al-Abbasi, and, a former prisoner, Jamil Al-Abbasi, from their homes in the town of Silwan in East Jerusalem.
From al-‘Isawiya, Ahmed Harbi Obaid was severely assaulted by Israeli soldiers when they detained him, as well as Iyad Dawood Obaid
In the central West Bank town of Beit Rima, near Ramallah city, a Palestinian youth, identified as Imran Saher Al-Barghouthi, was also severely beaten by Israeli forces before being abducted.
Meanwhile, from the northern West Bank city of Jenin, another former prisoner, Muhammad Zughaibi, was detained after being summoned by the Israeli intelligence, in “Salem” camp.
In the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia, 2 more civilians, identified as Muhammad Rajab Qadumi, 38, from Kufur Qaddoum town, and Salama Azam Merhi, from Qarawat Bani Hassan village in Salfit, were both detained by Israeli forces.
