RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 24 Palestinians from across districts of the occupied West Bank, including the wife of a former prisoner, on predawn Tuesday.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said that Israeli forces detained one Palestinian from the southern West Bank district of Hebron; he was identified as Mutaz Abu Sil, 19, from the al-Arroub refugee camp.
In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians; PPS identified them as Muhammad Nassim Sbeih and Hadi Azab Salah.
Israeli forces detained four Palestinians from the central West Bank district of Jerusalem; the detainees were not yet identified.
Two other Palestinians were detained from the Hizma town near Jerusalem; PPS identified them as Ahmad Sadeq al-Khatib and Salah Shalabi Askar.
In the Ramallah and al-Bireh district, also in the central West Bank, Israeli forces detained five Palestinians, including a woman.
The detainees were identified as Ayat Said Dahadha, wife of former prisoner Assem al-Barghouthi, brother of Palestinian who was killed by Israeli forces Saleh al-Barghouthi, Yasser Hazem Aqel, Ahmad Sami Hammad, 40, Adham Ibrahim Ayesh, 21, and Iyad Dar Assi.
PPS added that nine Palestinians were detained from across Jenin; they were identified as former prisoner Nidal Ziad al-Amer, son of a Palestinian killed by Israeli forces Ziad al-Amer, Mujahed Abu Khalifeh, Nizar Abu al-Hayja and Muhammad al-Saadi from the Jenin refugee camp.
In addition to Mustafa Izz al-Din Zaid, Ali Abed al-Rahman Baajawi from Yaabad, Nasr Abed al-Karim Alawneh from Jabaa, Humam Ziad Gharbiyeh from Sanur and Mahmoud Moussa from Marka.
One Palestinian was detained from the Kafr Qaddum town in Qalqiliya; he was identified as Muhammad Abed al-Ilah, 18.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 250 are child prisoners and 41 are under the age of 16 years.
