HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces released five Palestinian teachers and a student, on Tuesday, after being held for several hours on their way to the Hajariyah School in Hebron City, in the southern occupied West Bank.
Following an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Palestinian Civil Liaison said Israeli forces claimed that there was allegedly a knife inside the vehicle, which was transporting the five teachers along with the student.
It remained unknown whether a knife was found inside the vehicle.
Local sources said that the five teachers and the student have not arrive to the school in and did not attend any classes, causing distress among the school’s faculty.
While held by Israeli forces, the teachers were not able to contact their families or use their phones due to the soldiers briefly confiscating their cell phones.
Hebron's governor, Jibrin al-Bakri, and the Head of the directorate of education in Hebron, Atef al-Jamal, and locals welcomed the teachers and student upon their release from Israeli forces.

Israeli forces briefly hold five Palestinian teachers, student in Hebron

HEBRON, Tuesday, February 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday held five Palestinian teachers and a student in the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement, east of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
Director of the Education Ministry’s Hebron Office Atef al-Jamal said that the contact was lost with the five teachers and a student shortly after they left their hometown of Beit Kahel, northwest of Hebron, en route to the Hajariyah School in Hebron’s Old Town.
Al-Jamal added that Palestinian security services opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident to find out later that teachers along with the student were briefly held for several hours by Israeli forces in Kiryat Arba.
