RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces after he allegedly attempted to carry out a vehicular attack against Israeli soldiers during a raid to al-Bireh City in the central occupied West Bank, on Thursday afternoon.

Israeli media reported that a Palestinian youth, who attempted to run Israeli soldiers over in al-Bireh, was shot and killed.

Sources added that an Israeli soldier was wounded in the incident.

Palestinian Red Crescent teams announced that Israeli forces prevented them from reaching the Palestinian after he was initially shot.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told Ma'an that the incident was merely a car accident, as the driver was surprised with Israeli soldiers in his way and attempted to turn away from them before the heavily opened fire at him.

Clashes, that erupted in al-Bireh after Israeli soldiers raided the city in search for a Palestinian who carried out a shooting attack earlier Thursday killing two Israeli soldiers, are still ongoing after Israeli soldiers shot and killed the Palestinian youth.

One Palestinian was injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet, during clashes, while a teen was detained by Israeli forces.
