JERUSALEM (Ma'an) --OCT. 17, 2018 4:28 P.M. (UPDATED: OCT. 18, 2018 4:27 P.M.)
Four Palestinians were injured, while an 18-year-old woman was detained, on Wednesday, as Israeli forces assaulted activists present at the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem.
Local sources said that Israeli forces stormed Khan al-Ahmar and assaulted a number of peaceful activists without an obvious reason, leading to clashes that resulted in four injuries among Palestinians.
During clashes, Israeli forces pepper-sprayed activists and repeatedly assaulted them.
Sources confirmed that Israeli forces detained one Palestinian woman, identified as Ranin Amira, 18.
More than 200 local and international activists, who hope to prevent the planned demolition of Khan a-Ahmar, have been holding a vigil at the village since the Israeli High Court approved for its demolition, as part of an Israeli plan to expand the nearby illegal Israeli settlement of Kfar Adummim.
The B'Tselem human rights organization said in a statement that "this ruling shows once again that those under occupation cannot seek justice in the occupier's courts. If the demolition of the community of Khan al-Ahmar goes ahead, the Supreme (High) Court Justices will be among those who will bear responsibility for this war crime."
Khan al-Ahmar village has been in danger of being demolished by Israeli forces at any moment, which would displace 181 people, half of whom are children.
