GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- OCT. 16, 2018 11:14 A.M. (UPDATED: OCT. 17, 2018 11:45 A.M.)
Thirty-two Palestinians were injured by Israeli live ammunition at the northern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip, on Monday, as protesters participated in a naval march against the nearly 12-year Israeli siege.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 32 Palestinians were injured after Israeli forces opened live ammunition towards Palestinian protesters at the northern borders of Gaza.
Those injured were transferred to hospitals for medical treatment; their conditions remained unknown.
A Ma'an reporter said that the number of injured increased after protesters managed to enter the gate of Israeli Zikim beach, during which Israeli forces continuously fired live ammunition.
However, sources added that protesters managed to cut through the security border fence of the Zikim beach and raise the Palestinian flag above the fence.
Protesters ignited dozens of tires on fire along the security border fence, in order to blur the vision of Israeli snipers.
The International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza said that the number of protesters during the march was the largest since the start of the naval march, adding that these crowds of protesters are a practical response to the ongoing Israeli siege.
Many attempts have been made throughout the years to draw the public's attention to and break the ongoing siege of the Gaza Strip whether via ships attempting to sail into Gaza or ships attempting to sail from Gaza.
