JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a senior Islamic Jihad member from his Jenin village early Tuesday, the second party leader in the northern West Bank seized in the past month.
Israeli forces raided the home of Sheikh Osama Al-Shalabi in Silat al-Dhahar village south of Jenin, before detaining the Islamic Jihad leader, locals told Ma'an.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said one person was detained overnight south of Jenin, among 14 detentions across the West Bank.
Israeli forces detained another senior Islamic Jihad member, Sheikh Khader Adnan, from Jenin-district Arraba village on Dec. 17. He has since gone on hunger strike to protest his treatment by Israeli prison authorities.
