GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian was killed and dozens others were injured by Israeli live ammunition during protests at the eastern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip, on Friday.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that one Palestinian, identified as Karim Muhammad Kallab, 25, was shot and killed by Israeli live bullets in eastern Gaza City.
A Ma'an reporter said that dozens of Palestinian youths were able to cross behind the Israeli security fence in eastern Gaza City and eastern al-Breij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces heavily fired tear-gas bombs and live bullets at protesters.
Meanwhile, the Israeli artillery fired at least one missile targeting an empty field in eastern Gaza City; no injuries were reported in the incident.
The ministry said in a statement that at least 312 Palestinians sustained different wounds, 30 of which were transferred to hospitals for treatment including 21 injuries with live fire.
Four of the reported injuries were critical.
"The Great March of Return" protests were launched on March 30th by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.
