GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- More than 200 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces' suppression of "The Great March of Return" protests alongside the eastern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip, on Friday, using live ammunition and tear-gas bombs.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that a total of 240 Palestinians were injured; 82 of which were transferred to hospitals for treatment, including a woman paramedic and a 10-year-old boy.

The ministry added that Israeli forces targeted and injured three paramedics and one journalist with live fire, in addition to damaging a Red Crescent ambulance in the northern Gaza Strip.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched and protested at return camps across the Gaza Strip; mainly in the cities of Rafah, Khan Younis, Gaza and Jabaliya.

At least 171 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of "The Great March of Return" protests on March 30.

"The Great March of Return" protests were launched on March 30th by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.
