JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Jerusalemite woman, on Monday evening, after assaulting her while in the Bab-al-Rahma cemetery, just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces assaulted the woman while she was present in the Bab al-Rahma cemetery and detained her afterwards; her identity was not yet identified.
The reason of her detention was unknown.
Firas al-Dibs, head of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Islamic Endowment (Waqf), said that Israeli forces delivered interrogation notices to two security guards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Ahmad Damiri and Ghazi Asilah.
Al-Dibs added that the notices were delivered to the two guards under the pretext of their objection to the assault and detention of the Jerusalemite woman by Israeli forces.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,820 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 63 are female prisoners.
