Description
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Israeli authorities released four Palestinian fishermen, on Sunday evening, who were attacked and detained by Israeli naval forces earlier, along with another fisherman, in the northern besieged Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Navy announced that the four detained fishermen were released, however the fifth fisherman remained in detention, along with a Palestinian fishing boat that is still under confiscation.
Reason of why the fifth fisherman remained held in detention were not yet known.
The release came after Israeli naval forces attacked several Palestinian fishing boats on Sunday morning and detained five fishermen who were identified as Hassan Fadel Baker and his brother, Nasser, along with his three sons Yasser, Ahmad, and Fadel Nasser Baker.
The Israeli army also regularly detains and opens fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen, shepherds and farmers along the border areas if they approach the buffer zone, as the authorities have not made clear the precise area of the designated zone.
