GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Following four hours of ceasefire, Israeli warplanes resumed airstrikes targeting Hamas sites across the besieged Gaza Strip, on Thursday.
A Ma'an reporter said that Israeli warplanes fired several missiles targeting military sites belonging to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, south of the Gaza Strip.
Enormous material damages were reported in the area, however injuries were not.
Israeli warplanes also targeted and fired missiles at a Hamas military site on the Salah al-Din Street in the central Gaza Strip, while more airstrikes targeted a naval police site in the northern Gaza Strip.
Israel has declared a mutual exchange of fire since late Wednesday night with Gaza, which has resulted in the destruction of alleged Hamas military sites, in exchange for hundreds of rockets launched from Gaza towards southern Israel.
An Israeli army spokesperson, said in a statement, that since Wednesday night, Israeli warplanes hit 150 sites in the Gaza Strip, with Hamas launching about 180 rockets which landed near Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip.
He confirmed that out of the 180 rockets fired from Gaza, the Iron Dome system intercepted more than 30 rocket-propelled grenades.
He added that most of the rockets fired from Gaza fell in open areas.
Israeli airstrikes carried out overnight led to the killing of three Palestinians on predawn Thursday, including a pregnant mother and her toddler.
