The Israeli “Civil Administration Office” run by the army in the occupied West Bank, issued demolition orders targeting six inhabited Palestinian homes in the al-Walaja village, west of Bethlehem.

Local nonviolent activist Ibrahim Awad said dozens of soldiers, accompanied by personnel of the Jerusalem City Council and the “Civil Administration Office,” invaded the Ein Jweiza area, north of the village, and handed the demolition orders to six families.

He added that the soldiers also summoned the owners of the homes for interrogation in Etzion military base and security center, south of Bethlehem.

It is worth mentioning that Ein Jweiza area has been subject to constant Israeli violations, especially since the army is trying to illegally confiscate more privately-owned Palestinian land for the construction and expansion of the illegal colonies.

Over the past few months, Israel issued orders targeting twenty Palestinian homes; some of the orders were for demolition, and others were instructing the Palestinians to halt the construction of their homes, until a further decision is determined.

Israel also issued orders for the demolition of several walls, in addition to the uprooting of agricultural lands.

There are currently eighty appeals of demolition and construction halt orders pending in Israeli courts.

The Palestinians are building on their own lands, but Israel is trying to illegally confiscate them so that it can construct and expand its illegal colonies, built in direct violation of International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, in addition to the fact that it considers the area to be part of “Greater Jerusalem.”
