GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Four Palestinians were killed and at least 120 others injured by Israeli forces during "The Great March of Return" protests along the Israel-Gaza border, on Friday.
A Ma'an reporter said that two Palestinians were killed after the Israeli artillery fired two shells at a monitoring post, belonging to the al-Qassam Brigades, which is the military wing of the Hamas movement in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza Strip, on Friday afternoon.
The two killed Palestinians were identified as Muhammad Abu Farhaneh and Shaaban Abu Khatar.
Meanwhile, a third Palestinian was killed due to Israeli forces carrying out airstrikes in the Rafah district, in southern Gaza. The Palestinian was identified as Muhammad Qishta.
According to local medical sources, a fourth Palestinian was killed and identified as Muhammad Sharif Badwan.
As a result of the continuous airstrikes and heavy use of live ammunition by the Israeli forces, it has been estimated that about 120 Palestinians have been injured in various areas of the Gaza Strip.
Among the 120 injured in Gaza, a 14-year-old Palestinian boy was shot in the head and is now in critical condition. Several other injured Palestinians are reported to be in critical condition as well.
Local sources told Ma'an that hundreds of Gaza residents raced to the return camps along the eastern border of the Gaza Strip to participate in a protest, where they demonstrated against UNWRA's scheme against the rights of refugees.
Sources added that protesters set car tires on fire, in attempt to blur the vision of Israeli snipers with smoke and flames, while they proceed with the march.
