Israeli soldiers demolished, on Tuesday morning, a Palestinian building in the al-‘Isawiya town in occupied East Jerusalem, after forcing the inhabitants out, and emptying its apartments and stores.

Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the Follow-Up Committee in al-‘Isawiya, said dozens of soldiers and police officers, accompany by bulldozers, invaded the town, and surrounded the building after declaring the area a closed military zone.

He added that the soldiers demolished the building, owned by Jamal Ata ‘Oleyyan and his family, allegedly for being built without a permit.

He stated that the soldiers forced the families from the apartment building, adding that the families were granted a very short time to remove their furniture and belongings, but the time was insufficient for them to empty the building.

The building consisted of three floors, containing two flats, inhabited by more than 15 members of Abu ‘Oleyyan family, and also included stores on the ground level.

The family has been living in the building for more than ten years, and said it never received an official and final decision regarding the demolition of their property.

While Israel’s illegal construction and expansion of colonies on Palestinians lands continues to increase, in direct violation of International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, the Palestinians in Jerusalem are denied construction permits, in addition to the excessively high fees, and costs they face just to apply for a permit.

Israeli soldiers invaded, Tuesday, the al-‘Isawiya town in occupied East Jerusalem, and evicted a three-story Palestinian building in preparation for demolishing it under the pretext of being built without a permit.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) said the soldiers surrounded the building, owned by members of ‘Oleyyan family, and includes apartments in addition to commercial stores.

Dozens of soldiers invaded the town, before imposing a strict siege around the building, and invaded its stores and apartments.

The soldiers violently removed the Palestinians and emptied the contents of the building in preparation for leveling it.

t is worth mentioning that al-‘Isawiya has been subject to a very strict Israeli military siege, and witnesses daily invasions and violent searches of homes and property, in addition to escalating abduction of locals, especially youngsters, in an attempt to stop the ongoing protests against the illegal occupation, and violations against the residents, and their property.
