BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 20 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank during search and detention raids before dawn on Monday.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that 20 Palestinians were detained. Local sources identified some of the detainees to Ma’an.

In the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained one Palestinian from Jenin. He was identified as Muhammad Lutfi Malaysheh.

Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the Nablus district; they were identified by locals as Ayman Ribhi Hanini, Mutasem Salem, Nasr Hamdan, Jaafar Jaghoub and Nasser Fawzi Abu Khalil.

In Qalqiliya, Israeli forces detained brothers Muhammad and Ahmas Mustafa Radwan.

A Palestinian father and son were detained from the central West Bank district of Ramallah. They were identified as Ayed Marrar and his son Ahmad.

Clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths as forces raided the al-Duheisha refugee camp, in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem.

Israeli forces detained Ali Samih Masalmeh, Mahmoud Hammash and Bilal Mahmoud al-Wahsh from the camp.

In the Hebron district of the southern West Bank, Israeli forces detained four Palestinians. They were identified as Wajdi Atef al-Awawdeh, Ahmad Abed al-Jalil al-Shahatit, Akram Abed al-Aziz al-Zubdi and Haitham al-Natsheh.

Israeli search and arrest operations are a near-nightly occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to UN documentation, between March 27th and April 9th, Israeli forces carried out 159 raids.

Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer reported that as of March, there were 6,050 Palestinians being held as political prisoners in Israeli jails.
