RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Fourteen Palestinians were wounded with rubber-coated steel bullets as Israeli forces suppressed Land Day protests at the northern entrance to the city of al-Bireh in the central occupied West Bank.
In addition to the 14 injured with rubber bullets, 10 others had to receive treatment from medics as they suffered from severe tear gas inhalation.
Locals also told Ma’an that forces sprayed protesters with water, and closed the northern entrance to the city.
Friday, March 30 marked the 42nd anniversary of what Palestinians know as Land Day, during which they commemorate the 1976 Israeli killing of six Palestinians who were protesting the Israeli government's expropriation of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land.
In Gaza, seven Palestinians were killed and hundreds more were injured as of Friday afternoon.
