Israeli forces search for Palestinian teen suspected of killing settler in stabbing attack
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) FEB. 7, 2018 10:05 A.M. (UPDATED: FEB. 7, 2018 12:52 P.M.)
Israeli forces on Tuesday continued in their search for a Palestinian teenager accused of killing an Israeli settler on Monday in the illegal Israeli settlement of Ariel in the central occupied West Bank.
Israeli news website Ynet reported that 19-year-old Abd al-Karim Adel Assi, a Palestinian citizen of Israel, stabbed Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal, 29, who lived with his family in the Har Brakha settlement near Nablus in the northern West Bank, in violation of international law.
Assi reportedly stabbed Ben Gal in the chest on Monday afternoon. Ben Gal was treated on the scene by Israeli paramedics but later succumbed to his wounds.
According to Ynet, Assi fled the scene after being hit by an Israeli army officer’s vehicle.
Ynet added that Assi was a troubled youth who was abandoned by his parents at a young age and has spent the last few years in and out of shelters inside Israel for at-risk youth.

An Arab terrorist stabbed an Israeli man to death in the city of Ariel in Samaria, Monday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Itamar Ben-Gal, a resident of the community of Har Bracha in Samaria. Ben-Gal, a father of four, was an educator who was official teacher (Ra'm) of 8th grade boys at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Givat Shmuel, and also taught at the Har Bracha Yeshiva.
The stabbing attack occurred at a popular hitchhiking spot near Jerusalem Boulevard in Ariel just before 2:30 p.m. The terrorist, an Israeli Arab from Yaffo, stabbed the victim from the back, penetrating his upper chest and wounding him fatally.
MDA paramedics and IDF medics were dispatched to the scene and treated the victim before evacuating him in critical condition to Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva. The victim was declared dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
Initial reports indicate the terrorist fled the scene immediately after the stabbing. An IDF officer who witnessed the attack rammed the terrorist with his car, but failed to neutralize the terrorist.
"When I arrived at the scene, I joined an IDF medical team and provided medical treatment to a 30-year-old man who was unconscious with a stab wound in his upper body. We performed CPR, gave drugs and stopped the bleeding. He is in critical condition."
Witnesses say the victim ran into street after he was stabbed and approached a bus, banging on the door calling for help, Walla! reported.
“Terror attack, terror attack, I’ve been stabbed,” the victim said moments after the attack, lost consciousness and collapsed.
