BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Two Palestinians were shot and injured with live ammunition by Israeli forces during clashes in the occupied West Bank and besieged Gaza Strip.
In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, locals told Ma’an that a young Palestinian man was shot in the leg by Israeli forces during clashes that erupted in the town of Tuqu, during which forces fired tear gas, sound bombs, and rubber-coated steel bullets at Palestinians.
The youth, whose identity remained unknown, was taken by an ambulance to the Beit Jala Governmental hospital near Bethlehem city.
Meanwhile, official Palestinian Authority (PA)-owned Wafa news agency reported that a young Palestinian man was injured during protests along the southern Gaza border with Israel, after he was hit with live ammunition fired by Israeli soldiers stationed along the border.
The injured Palestinian, whose identity remained unknown, was described as being in moderate condition.
According to Ma’an documentation, 14 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since US President Donald Trump announced last month that he was recognizing Jerusalem -- the Eastern half of which is illegally occupied by Israel in violation of international law -- as the capital of Israel.
Hundreds of more have been injured and arrested since the announcement, which world leaders warned would cause unrest in the region.
