BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 11 Palestinians from districts across the occupied West Bank during overnight raids between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS said in a statement on Wednesday that Israeli forces detained six Palestinians from the Ramallah and al-Bireh district in the central West Bank.

The detainees were identified as Bajes Nakhleh, Amir Abu Sbeih from the al-Jalazun refugee camp, Ubaida Hussein Abu Alia, and Majed al-Beisi Abu Alia from the al-Mughayyar town, Ahmad Saleh Awajneh from Kafr Malek and Muhammad Nafez Baraawi from Umm al-Sharayet.

In the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, Israeli forces also detained Issa al-Urouj, 21, after raiding and searching his home. According to PPS, Israeli forces confiscated some 100 Jordanian dinars ($140) from al-Urouj’s house.

Meanwhile, south of Bethlehem in the Hebron district, PPS said three Palestinians were detained, identifying them as Jibril Jiawi, 31, Jihad Abdullah al-Ajluni, 18, and Khalid Mahmoud Sarahneh, 60.

In the northern West Bank, a Palestinian identified as Majd Khalid Tambuz, 20, was detained while passing through a flying checkpoint between Nablus and Tulkarem.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that nine Palestinians were detained overnight.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,198 Palestinians were detained by Israel as of October. The group has estimated that some 40 percent of Palestinian men will be detained by Israel at some point in their lives.
