GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Unknown assailants abducted three Palestinian workers on Monday afternoon inside underground tunnels connecting the besieged Gaza Strip with Egypt, according to locals.
Sources from Gaza told Ma’an that the three workers are from the al-Shujaiyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, and were identified as Hasan Jamal Abu al-Beid, Rami Jaber Nasrallah and Khalid Ziad Abu Asr.
The sources also said that the workers were abducted by members of the so-called Islamic State and taken into the Sinai peninsula in Egypt, though the speculation could not be confirmed.
The Ministry of Interior in Gaza confirmed that the three workers were abducted while inside one of the tunnels at the Gaza-Egyptian borders, and that security services in Gaza have opened an investigation into the abduction.
