BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- At least 10 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank between Monday and Tuesday, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.
In the northern West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that one Palestinian, identified as Adham al-Shalabi, was detained from Tulkarem.
An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed to Ma’an the detentions from Tulkarem, adding that one Palestinian was also detained from the Jenin district.
In the central West Bank, Israeli forces detained Anas Dweik and Muhammad Bassem Matouq the town of al-Eizariya in the Jerusalem district, according to PPS. Meanwhile, Muhammad Said al-Sheikh, 25, was detained from the Jerusalem-area town of Biddu.
PPS added that 16-year-old Hakim Mahmoud Abu Srour was detained from Jericho.
The Israeli army confirmed two detentions in al-Eizariya, one in Biddu, and one in Jericho.
Four Palestinians were detained from the southern West Bank districts of Bethlehem and Hebron, according to PPS and the Israeli army.
Three Palestinians were detained from the Bethlehem-area town of al-Khader, and were identified by locals as 19-year-old Zein Sayil Issa, 16-year-old Samir Mahmoud Issa, and 19-year-old Muhammad Kamal al-Faghouri. The three detentions were confirmed by the army.
Meanwhile, locals in the Bethlehem-area village of Nahhalin told Ma’an that Israeli forces raided the village and delivered an interrogation summons to Hassan Muhammad Najajra, 23, demanding that he show at an Israeli intelligence office for questioning.
In the southern West Bank city of Hebron, both PPS and the army said one Palestinian was detained. PPS identified the detainee as Islam Tamim al-Khatib.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 95 search and detention raids carried out over the course of 2016, according to UN documentation.
According to a report released earlier this month, a total of 388 Palestinians, including 70 minors and 13 women, were detained across the occupied Palestinian territory during the month of June.
