BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 21 Palestinians during overnight raids across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem between Wednesday and Thursday, Israeli and Palestinian sources reported.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to a joint report released by a number of Palestinian rights groups earlier this month, Israeli forces detained a total of 388 Palestinians, including 70 minors and 13 women, across the occupied Palestinian territory during the month of June alone.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,300 Palestinians were imprisoned by Israel as of June.

East Jerusalem

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that ten Palestinians, the majority of whom are minors, were detained in occupied Jerusalem, where tensions have been running high over the past week, since Israeli authorities installed heightened security measures around the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound following a deadly attack in the area.

PPS identified the detainees as Hamza Ajaj, Qusay Dari, Muhammad Ubeid, Nadim al-Safadi, Nidal al-Froukh, Ashraf Elayyan, Ahmad Kayid Mahmoud, Anas Abu Asab, Muhammad Abu Khdeir, and Raed al-Sayyad.

Northern West Bank

In the northernmost West Bank district of Jenin, an Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that one Palestinian was detained in the village of Qabatiya. PPS confirmed one detention in Jenin, identifying the Palestinian as Humam Adnan Kamil.

PPS added that Mumin Nawwaf Raddad was detained in the Tulkarem district.

The army spokesperson said Israeli forces detained one Palestinian in the Tulkarem-area village of Saida, while another was detained in al-Aqaba, in the neighboring Tubas district.

In the Nablus district, PPS said two Palestinians, identified as Ward Nitham Antari and Muhammad Mustafa Hamdan, were detained. The army confirmed the two detentions, saying they took place in the villages of Deir Sharaf and Salim.

In Qalqiliya, the army said one person was detained in Immatim. PPS reported that one Palestinian, Muhammad Ahmad Ubeid, was detained in the district overnight.

Central and southern West Bank

In the central West Bank, the Israeli army reported one detention in the village of Rafat in the Salfit district, while PPS said one Anas Khalid Ayyad was detained in the area.

In the Hebron district, PPS reported that five Palestinians were detained in total, identifying them as Ahmad Abd al-Rasul Bashir, Hamza Sami al-Jaabari, Saddam Majid Zein, Abd al-Karim Nayef Zein, and Khalil Moussa Daajna.

The Israeli army spokesperson also reported five detentions in the district, listing one detention in Hebron city, another in Idhna, one in Bani Naim, and two in Khirbet Raqa.

Israeli news site Arutz Sheva meanwhile reported that Israeli forces found weapons during overnight raids in Hebron City and the villages of Yatta and Bani Naim.

Weapons factory, arms found in Hevron area

Police forces, in conjunction with Border Guards and the Israel Defense Forces, raided houses in the Hevron area on Wednesday evening.
A search of a house in Hevron grips for an M-16 rifle were found. A search in the village of Yatta produced a Carlo machine gun, a lathe for making weapons, an IDF helmet, ammunition and ammunition clips. Police found an M1 rifle in a pigeon coup in the village of Bani Naim. Four residents of the area were arrested.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Thursday at dawn, several areas in the southern West Bank governorate of Hebron, and Jenin governorate, in northern West Bank, searched many homes and workshops, and abducted six Palestinians.

The Hebron office of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said the soldiers invaded many neighborhoods in the city, searched and ransacked homes, and abducted a child, identified as Yousef Mustafa Hajahja, 14 years of age, from the Old City.

The soldiers also invaded homes in Ethna town, west of Hebron, and abducted Sami Ja’bari and Ahmad Abdul-Rasool.

Another Palestinian, identified as Ibrahim al-Husseini, was abducted from his home in the al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, while the soldiers also illegally confiscated mobile phones and computers from his home.

In addition, the soldiers invaded Yatta town, south of Hebron, also searched homes, before abducting Saddam Majed Zein, 33, and Abdul-Karim Nayef Zein, 28.

The Israeli army said its soldiers managed to locate weapons and combat materials, during searches in Yatta and Bani Neim towns, and in Hebron city.

The army claimed locating a lathe machine, used for manufacturing homemade weapons, and ammunition, in Doura town, north of Hebron, in addition to locating M1 rifle, in Bani Neim town east of Hebron.
The soldiers also said they located two instruction manuals, used to manufacture M16 rifles.

In related news, the soldiers invaded Qabatia town, south of Jenin, searched homes, and a blacksmith’s workshop, and abducted a young man, identified as Homam Adnan ar-Raja.
