BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least six Palestinians and killed another during overnight detention raids between Thursday and Friday across the occupied West Bank.
In the al-Duheisha refugee camp, located in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, Israeli forces shot and killed 18-year-old Baraa Hamamda during a raid. Locals told Ma’an that Muhammad Ubeid and Muath Abu Nassar were detained during the raid.
An Israeli army spokesperson later confirmed the two detentions in al-Duheisha to Ma'an, adding that one Palestinian was detained from the Bethlehem-area village of Wadi Rahhal.
Additionally, two Palestinians were detained in the Hebron-area town of Dura in the southern West Bank, while one Palestinian was detained from the village of Kafr Raai in the Jenin district of the northern West Bank.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Due to the typically aggressive nature of the raids, clashes often erupt between local Palestinian youth who throw stones and are met in response with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.
According to Palestinian prisoners’ rights group Addameer, there were 6,200 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons as of May.

Furthermore, the soldiers invaded and searched many homes of Kufur Ra’ey town, southwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and abducted Bilal Nabil Thiab, 33, after violently interrogating him and his family.
It is worth mentioning that Thiab is a former political prisoner, who was released two years ago, after he held a hunger strike for 87 consecutive days, protesting being held under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders, without charges or trial since 2012. His brother, Azzam, is a political prisoner, serving a life sentence.
