JERUSALEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces raided the Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday and pushed a Palestinian woman and her child out of a house, forcing them to wait for more than an hour and a half under the scorching sun.
A spokesperson for the Fatah movement in the camp Thaer Fasfous told Ma’an that Israeli forces had raided the house of Daoud Houshiyeh in Shufat and forced a woman and her toddler child outside of the house.
The woman and child were forced to wait for more than an hour and a half under the sun while Israeli forces conducted a search on the house. Temperatures reached at least 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an he would look into reports on the incident.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a weekly average of 95 search and detention raids carried out over the course 2016, according to UN documentation.
According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, there were 6,200 Palestinians in Israeli prisons as of May, including 300 minors.
