HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained six Palestinians between Sunday night and Monday morning, according to local sources and the Israeli army.
In the southern occupied West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli forces detained two Palestinian minors in the Wadi Qayyun neighborhood in northern Hebron.
Locals told Ma'an that a group of children were throwing stones at Israeli military vehicles in the area before soldiers chased them and managed to apprehend two.
Israeli soldiers handcuffed the minors and put them in the back of a military vehicle that drove in the direction of the illegal Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba, locals said.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they were looking into the reports.
Owner of a local radio station in Hebron Ayman al-Qawasmeh captured the detention on camera.
Overnight Sunday, Israeli forces raided the industrial zone in the town of Beit Ummar north of Hebron and detained a young Palestinian man, local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad said.
Awad added that Israeli soldiers searched and ransacked the home of Talal Muhammad Zaaqiq and inspected it before they detained his 22-year-old son Muhammad and took him to Gush Etzion detention center.
An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into the raid and detention in Beit Ummar.
The spokesperson also said that one Palestinian was detained overnight in Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank and that two Palestinians were detained in Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank after clashes erupted between locals and Israeli forces securing a group of thousands of Israelis on a visit to Joseph's Tomb.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The United Nations recorded an average of 95 weekly raids in the occupied West Bank in 2016, while 125 raids were carried out over the past two weeks.
According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,300 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of April, including 300 minors, 61 women, and 500 under administrative detention -- an Israeli policy of imprisonment without charge or trial.
