BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 11 Palestinians during overnight raids Thursday in the occupied West Bank, in addition to seizing weapons and tools allegedly used to manufacture weapons, according to the Israeli army.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The United Nations recorded an average of 95 weekly raids in the occupied West Bank in 2016, and 78 weekly raids on average thus far in 2017.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,300 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of March, including 300 minors and 61 women

Northern West Bank

In the Tulkarem district, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians, one of whom the Israeli army told Ma’an was a Hamas operative, from the village of Iktaba.

Two Palestinians were detained from the Nablus district, with the Israeli army citing one detention from the Huwwara village south of Nablus city, and one from the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus.

Central and Southern West Bank

In the central West Bank district of Jerusalem, the Israeli army said they detained one Palestinian from the town of Abu Dis.

In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians. The Israeli army identified one detention in the village of Doha near Bethlehem city, and one from the village of Umm Asla. The location of the third detention remained unclear.

The Israeli army told Ma’an that three Palestinians were detained from the southern West Bank’s Hebron district. Two Palestinians were detained in the village of Beit Ummar, and one was detained in the village of Surif.

Separately, the Israeli army released a statement saying that Israeli forces raided an industrial workshop near the Hebron-area village of Yatta and seized a lathe that was allegedly being used to manufacture weapons.

The statement added that Israeli forces seized a “locally made weapon” in the Bethlehem-area village of Beit Fajjar, and seized a hunting rifle and an airgun in the town of Beit Sahour, east of Bethlehem city.

Israeli Soldiers Abduct Two Palestinians In Northern Plains

by IMEMC News

Israeli soldiers invaded, Thursday, Bardala village, in the West Bank’s Northern Plains, and abducted two Palestinian men.

The WAFA Palestinian News Agency said the soldiers abducted Aziz Sawafta and Mahmoud Sawafta, and took them to an unknown destination.

The army said it invaded the village to look for what it called “unlicensed irrigation networks” used by the Palestinian farmers.

Last week, the army invaded the village, and destroyed a water pipeline in the village under the same allegations.

While illegal Israeli colonies, built on Palestinian lands in the area have uninterrupted, abundant water supplies, the Palestinians, and their agricultural lands, remain without sufficient water resources due to Israel’s illegal policies.
