BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 11 Palestinians during raids and clashes across the occupied West Bank between Wednesday night and early Thursday afternoon, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.

In the northern occupied West Bank, Israeli forces detained Usama Ahmad Salatneh and Ali Hilmi Kinaan from the village of Jabaa in Jenin, according to locals. An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that two Palestinians were detained in the village for being alleged Hamas operatives.

In Tulkarem, Diyaa Abu Qseido was detained from the Nur Shams refugee camp, according to locals. The detention was confirmed by the Israeli army.

Locals told Ma’an that Israeli forces also detained Saji Abu Athba from Qalqiliya City. An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they had detained one alleged Hamas operative in the city.

Israeli forces also carried out raids in Balata refugee camp in Nablus, detaining one Palestinian, identified by locals as Ubada Dweikat. An Israeli army spokesperson also confirmed the detention.

In Jericho, an Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that one unidentified Palestinian was detained in Marj Naja village.

In the central West Bank, Israeli forces carried out raids on communities in Ramallah and Jerusalem districts, and confiscated 11 vehicles claiming they were illegal, according to Israeli media.

In the village of Silwad in Ramallah, Israeli forces raided a home, which locals told Ma’an belonged to Jadallah Hamed.

Israeli forces raided the Jerusalem-area village of Abu Dis and detained Ahmad Ali Nawafleh after raiding his house in the village.

Local resident Hani Halabiyeh said that Israeli forces had claimed that the village was raided in search of a missing Israeli settler.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that three Palestinians were detained in Abu Dis during overnight raids.

According to Halabiyeh, Israeli forces also deployed across the village early Thursday morning, stopping and searching Palestinian youths and students, causing clashes to erupt between local youth and Israeli forces.

During the clashes, that locals said lasted until noon, Israeli forces were deployed in a residential building, where they shot live fire, rubber bullets, and tear gas at Palestinian youths.

Halabiyeh reported that one unidentified Palestinian was detained during the clashes, though it remained unclear what time they were detained.

An Israeli army spokesperson said they would look into reports of the clashes.

Israeli forces also raided the town of al-Eizariya in Jerusalem, though no detentions were reported.

Israeli forces also raided the Jerusalem-are village of Sheikh Saad, home of slain Palestinian Suhaib Mashahra who was shot dead by Israeli forces when he hit an Israeli bus with his car at a junction near Israel’s illegal Gush Etzion settlement bloc on Wednesday.

Earlier reports said that the 21-year-old’s home in the village was raided, and that his mother and brothers, Nimr and Omar, were summoned for interrogation by Israeli intelligence.

Following all the raids in the Jerusalem area, which according to Israeli media included several other unidentified villages, Israeli forces had confiscated 13 vehicles and $1,000.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces raided and searched the home of Ahmad Muhammad Abd al-Qader al-Umari, 63, in the village of Beit Ummar before detaining him. Al-Umari is the head of the Beit Ummar Orphanage, according to local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad.

Awad added that al-Umari was transported in an Israeli military jeep to the Israeli Etzion detention center in northern Beit Ummar.

According to Israeli media, Israeli forces had claimed they found a weapon during raids in Beit Ummar.

Approximately 6,300 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including some 300 minors, and 500 Palestinians who have not been charged or tried, according to Palestinian prisoners’ rights group Addameer.

Israeli military raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the occupied West Bank. According to Addameer, there were a daily average of 17 detentions over 2016.
