NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces closed the entrance of the village of Osarin in the occupied West Bank district of Nablus on Saturday with large dirt mounds for alleged security reasons.
Palestinian security sources told Ma’an that Israeli forces closed the main entrance of the village “until further notice,” claiming that a group of Palestinian youth had placed a large rock on the nearby Israeli settler bypass road in order to block the way of Israeli settler vehicles.
Sources added that Israeli forces had also warned Palestinian locals from continuing such actions while closing the entrance to the village.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an she would look into reports on the closure.
Palestinian communities are routinely subjected to road closures by Israeli military forces for purported "security reasons," an act which rights groups have denounced as amounting to collective punishment.
