Description
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Agents of the PA preventive security apparatus detained 55-year-old Omar Awad and his four sons at a roadblock near the entrance of Ramallah on Tuesday to pressure his fifth son Abdulrahman to surrender himself to them.
Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that the security agents took the father and his four sons from Badars village, west of Ramallah, to a detention facility in the city.
They said that the agents repeatedly tried to detain Abdulrahman but whenever they arrived in his house they did not find him.
Meanwhile, the PA intelligence in Jericho handed a summons to Bara’, the son of Hamas MP Fathi Al-Qarawi, on Monday evening.
The MP told the PIC that he was surprised at the summons especially when his son was more than once before summoned for interrogation. He added that the ordinary citizen would not feel any change on the ground unless detention and summons practices came to a halt.
For her part, Hamas MP in Al-Khalil Samira Al-Halaiqa told Quds Press on Monday that political detention was still rampant in the West Bank despite the meeting a few days ago between Hamas and Fatah leaders in Cairo that renewed agreement on ending the practice.
She said that the security apparatuses in the West Bank did not only refuse to release detainees but were still detaining and summoning others.
