BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 7 Palestinians Thursday night and before dawn Friday morning in the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli army and media sources.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained four Palestinians during overnight raids.
The spokesperson cited three detentions from the central Jerusalem district town of Beit Anan, and one from the southern West Bank village of Bani Naim in the Hebron district.
Separately, Israeli media reported that three Palestinian youths were detained late Thursday night after Israeli forces found two locally-made weapons in the vehicle they were driving, south of Nablus in the northern West Bank.
The detainees were reportedly transferred to Israeli intelligence for interrogation.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces set up several flying checkpoints on main roads south of Nablus late Thursday, searching vehicles and ID cards of passengers, according to locals.
Locals told Ma’an that Israeli forces set up a flying checkpoint at the main Huwwara road leading to Nablus City, as well as a flying checkpoint south of the permanent Zaatara checkpoint, stopping cars headed towards Ramallah in the central West Bank.
The Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports of the checkpoints as well as the detention of the three youths over weapon possession.
