HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Several Palestinians suffered from tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces raided the village of Beit Ummar in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron on Thursday around noon.
Local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awwad told Ma’an that Israeli forces raided the al-Dhuhr area in southern Beit Ummar, opposite to the illegal Israeli settlement of Karmei Tzur, and fired tear gas at civilians, causing clashes to erupt with local Palestinian youths.
Awwad added that Israeli forces retreated to Karmei Tzur, while other Israeli forces stationed at the northern entrance of Beit Ummar stopped and searched Palestinian vehicles passing through.
According to Awwad, Israeli forces stopped 14-year-old Amin Imad Muhammad al-Sleibi at the entrance of Beit Ummar and detained him, taking him in a military vehicle to an unknown location.
An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports of the clashes and al-Sleibi's detention.
