BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- A Palestinian Friday stabbed an Israeli settler inside his home in the illegal Efrat settlement in the south of the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem, according to Israeli sources.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that the settler was “lightly injured” and was evacuated to Israel’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
According to Israeli media outlet Ynet, the Israeli man is 50-years-old and sustained injuries in his back and neck.
Israeli media also reported that the Palestinian had fled from the scene, while Israeli forces were continuing to conduct searches in the area.
Locals told Ma’an that there was a heavy presence of Israeli soldiers in Bethlehem, and have reported clashes erupting between Palestinians and Israeli forces. As of 11 pm, locals also reported several raids being conducted on Palestinian homes and areas in the village of Wad Rahhal near to the Efrat settlement. Israeli helicopters were also present at the scene.
According to Ma’an documentation, 34 Israelis and 246 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of a wave of unrest across the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel in October 2015.

A stabbing attack in the West Bank settlement of Efrat on Friday left one man lightly injured, according Israel's Magen David Adom medical service and the Israeli army.
After initial investigations, the IDF said that a Palestinian had stabbed an Israeli settler from Efrat at the entrance to his home before fleeing the scene. Israeli troops were in pursuit of the suspect.
Paramedics reported that a 50-year-old man was being evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem with stab wounds to his upper extremities.
