BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained five Palestinians during predawn raids Sunday in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
In the northern West Bank, locals told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained Usayd Allam Miri from the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan in the Salfit district, and Muhammad Hussein Jamal Yahiyah from Jenin.
Local sources from the village of al-Mazra al-Qibliya in the central Ramallah district said Israeli forces detained Muin Ammar Shuraytih and Ali Sufyan Bayud from the village.
Israeli forces also detained Fathi Zuhdi Mahfuth from the al-Arrub refugee camp in the southern Hebron district.
An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed a total of three detentions to Ma’an, citing two detentions from al-Mazra al-Qibliya and one from al-Arrub refugee camp.
Israeli forces conduct night raids across the occupied Palestinian territory on a near-daily basis. According to UN documentation, the Israeli army carried out 185 military detention raids between Nov. 1 and Nov. 14.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of October. The organization estimates that 40 percent of Palestinian men have been detained by Israel at some point in their lives.
