Description
TEL AVIV, November 21, 2011 (WAFA) – A Jewish radical Monday broke into Hasan Beik mosque in the city of Jaffa, near Tel Aviv, with an intention to perform Jewish prayer in the Muslim mosque, said local official.
Ahmad Mashharawi, member of Tel Aviv Municipal Council, told WAFA that the Israeli police apprehended the Jewish man after a number of Muslim worshippers noticed him and contacted the police.
He expressed concern that the police will not charge the Israeli fanatic with anything, rather claim that he is insane and therefore could not be held accountable for his actions.
“This is scary because these radicals are not prosecuted or punished.” He said.
Mashharawi stressed that attacks against Islamic and Christian holy places are on the rise in Jaffa, the latest of which was the vandalism of Muslim and Christian cemeteries in October.
Hasan Beik mosque, which is located in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa hotel area, was repeatedly targeted by Jewish extremists who attacked and attempted to arson the holy site.
