JENIN (Ma'an) -- At least seven Palestinians were detained, and two Israeli soldiers were lightly injured during pre-dawn raids Friday morning in the occupied West Bank.
According to Israeli media, two Israeli soldiers were “lightly injured” as shots were fired and “locally-made bombs” were thrown at Israeli forces in the town of Qabatiya in southern Jenin in the northern West Bank.
Locals told Ma’an that clashes erupted between Israeli forces and locals during the raid, during which time Israeli forces shot live fire, tear-gas bombs and stun grenades into the crowds.
No injuries were reported.
Qabatiya resident Ahmad Naji Abu Zalta, 33, was detained by Israeli forces, according to locals.
Israeli media also reported that shots were fired at Israeli forces during a raid to in the al-Askar refugee in the eastern part of Nablus City.
Witnesses told Ma’an that Israeli forces raided several neighborhoods across Nablus and opened live fire on people during the raids.
At least two youths were detained from different areas in Nablus, and were identified by locals as Hamdi Khashan and Alaa Arafat.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that a total of six Palestinians were detained for “illegal activities” during the raids, citing two from Tulkarem, three from Nablus, and one from Hebron.
The army spokesperson said they were looking into reports of the injured Israeli soldiers.
Israeli forces conduct night raids across the occupied Palestinian territory on a near-daily basis. According to UN documentation, the Israeli army carried out 186 detention raids from Sept. 6 to 19.
According to Ma’an documentation, some 118 Palestinians have been detained under various circumstances, predominantly during overnight detention raids, since the beginning of October.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, some 7,000 Palestinians were imprisoned by Israel as of August, many of whom face torture, denial of family visitation, and medical negligence.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Friday at dawn, several districts in the occupied West Bank, searched many homes and kidnapped at least four Palestinians, while one child was kidnapped, on Thursday at night, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported. The soldiers also searched many young men, in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in Jerusalem.
The PPS said that the soldiers invaded Nablus city, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, before breaking into and searching many homes, and kidnapped at least two Palestinians, identified as Hamdi Khashan, and Ala’ Arafat.
The soldiers invaded the al-Khalili building in the al-Makhfeyya area in Nablus, in addition to at-Tour area, Ras al-‘Ein, and the area between the New Askar Refugee Camp and the Old Askar Refugee camp, in addition to the ad-Dahia area.
In addition, the soldiers invaded Qabatia town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, searched homes and kidnapped one Palestinian, identified as Ahmad Naji Abu Zalata, 33, after breaking into his home.
Clashes took place between the invading soldiers and dozens of local youths who hurled stones at the army, while the military fired several gas bombs, rubber-coated steel bullets, and live rounds.
Furthermore, several military vehicles invaded Shu’fat refugee camp, in the center of occupied East Jerusalem, searched and ransacked a number of homes and kidnapped a young man, identified as Yousef Skafi.
Also in Jerusalem, the soldiers and police officers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and searched many young men inside the holy sites, while inspecting their ID cards.
On Thursday at night, the soldiers kidnapped a child, identified as Mahdi Ishaq Sheikh, 15, after stopping him at a military roadblock near Kharbatha al-Misbah village, west of Ramallah, in central West Bank.
The army claimed that the soldiers searched the child, and discovered “he carried a concealed knife.”
