RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 26 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, including 14 who were released shortly afterwards and banned from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, during overnight raids between Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), 17 Palestinians were detained in East Jerusalem, including Muhammad Shuyukhi, the twin brother of Ali Shuyukhi, who was killed by Israeli forces on Tuesday night during clashes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.
Israeli forces also detained in East Jerusalem brothers Sbeih and Izz al-Din Abu Sbeih, the sons of Misbah Abu Sbeih, a Palestinian man who was killed by Israeli police on Sunday after carrying out a deadly shooting attack in East Jerusalem.
PPS lawyer Mufid al-Hajj said on Thursday that an Israeli court had extended the detention of Misbah Abu Sbeih’s 17-year-old daughter Eiman until Sunday.
PPS added that 14 other Palestinians were detained in the Old City of East Jerusalem overnight, only to later be released and banned from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
The 14 were identified as Jihad Qaws, Hamzeh Hijazi, Bassam Hijazi, Walid Tuffaha, Muhammad Tuffaha, Anas Tuffaha, Mahmoud Mwannas, Raghib Abu Sneineh, Mahmoud Salim, Mansour Salim, Mumin Hashimeh, Ahmad Mahlus, Mahmoud al-Bayyumi, and Yazan al-Basti.
Meanwhile in the occupied West Bank, PPS reported that five Palestinians were detained in the Bethlehem district villages of Nahhalin and Tuqu, identifying them as Muhammad Rizq Mahmoud Najajreh, 16, Muhammad Qassem Abd al-Rahman Shakarneh, 14, Muath Ali Daoud Shakarneh, 18, Ibrahim Nayif Abu Mefreh, and Turki Muhammad Raja Sabbah.
An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed to Ma’an that Israeli forces had detained three Palestinians in Nahhalin and two in Tuqu.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Thursday at dawn, Nahhalin village and Teqoua’ town, in the West Bank district of Bethlehem, and kidnapped five Palestinians, including three children. The soldiers also invaded Beit Fajjar town, searched homes and threatened collective punishment.
The Bethlehem office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the soldiers invaded Nahhalin village, west of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, searched homes and kidnapped three Palestinians.
It said the kidnapped have been identified as Mohammad Rezeq Najajra, 13, Mohammad Qassem Shakarna, 15, and Moath Ali Shakarna, 18.
Furthermore, the soldiers invaded and searched homes in Teqoua’ town, east of Bethlehem, and kidnapped two Palestinians, identified as Ibrahim Nayef Abu Mfarreh, 20, and Turki Mohammad Ta’amra.
In addition, the soldiers invaded Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem, before breaking into the homes of Ahmad Yousef Taqatqa, and Essam Thawabta, and violently searched them.
The soldiers also distributed leaflets threatened to impose further collective measures on the residents if they “hurl stones on settlers’ cars, or participate in protests.”

Israeli soldiers kidnapped, on Thursday at dawn, a young Palestinian man from Silwan town, in occupied East Jerusalem, and released five, who were previously detained, after issuing orders denying them access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The soldiers invaded the family home of Mohammad Shiokhi, 20, searched the property and abducted him.
Mohammad is the twin brother of Ali Shiokhi, who was killed by the army on Tuesday evening, October 11, 2016.
In addition, the soldiers released five Palestinian, identified as Waleed Tuffaha, Mohammad Tuffaha, Anas Tuffaha, Hamza Hejazi and Jihad Nasser Qous, who were kidnapped after the soldiers invaded homes following the death of Ali.
The army also released five Palestinians from different parts of Jerusalem, after issuing orders denying them access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its surrounding areas, for different periods.
In related news, an Israeli court in Jerusalem extended the remand of Ghadeer Jamjoum, and her nephew Mohammad al-Hashlamoun, until this coming Monday for further interrogation.
The two were kidnapped, Wednesday, from their homes in the ar-Ram town, north of Jerusalem.
Also at dawn, the Nahhalin village and Teqoua’ town, in the West Bank district of Bethlehem, and kidnapped five Palestinians, including three children. The soldiers also invaded Beit Fajjar town, searched homes and threatened collective punishment.
