BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces reportedly demolished structures in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhoods of Sur Bahir and Beit Hanina early Tuesday morning, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territory, without providing further details.
Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the structures demolished in Sur Bahir included an agricultural structure and a warehouse.
A spokesperson for the Jerusalem municipality did not respond to a request for comment regarding the reported demolitions in the two neighborhoods.
The summer has seen a large-scale demolition campaign targeting Palestinian communities across Jerusalem on an unprecedented scale. In less than 24 hours in late July, 30 Palestinian families were left homeless after Israel destroyed homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhoods of Issawiya and Ras al-Amoud, and in the village of Qalandiya in the West Bank district of Jerusalem.
In August, there were two demolitions in Sur Bahir -- a car dealer’s office and two shipping containers were destroyed on Aug. 2, while a home that housed a family of five on Aug. 30,
On Aug 3., Israeli bulldozers demolished a Palestinian family's home in Beit Hanina -- the sixth time the home had been destroyed since the family began seeking an Israeli-issued building license more than a decade ago.
