BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli settlers Thursday deliberately ran over a Palestinian farmer from the town of al-Khader in the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem, according to local sources.
The 65-year-old Palestinian suffered from bruises and bone fractures and was taken to a local hospital, local sources told Ma’an.
The incident occurred on Route 60, the main artery connecting Israeli settlements to Israel.
Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an that he had not heard of any reports regarding the incident.
More than 500,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law, with recent announcements of settlement expansion provoking condemnation from the international community.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), there were a total of 221 reported settler attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem in 2015.
The majority of settler attacks committed against Palestinians are met with impunity, with Israelis rarely facing consequences for such attacks.
