Police Retract Terror Accusation Against Palestinian Killed by Cops
It was initially claimed that a vehicle had tried to run them over, but the driver is no longer suspected of terrorism after his brother was shot dead in the passenger seat, while video records two more gunshots after the car had stopped.

Police in Jerusalem Tuesday retracted their claim that the police shooting resulting in the death of Mustafa Nimr at the Shoafat refugee camp on Monday was the result of an attempted terror attack.
Ali Nimr, the driver of the vehicle in which his cousin Mustafa sat, was arrested only because of driving without a license, driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment with a vehicle. A video clip that Channel 10 broadcast last night raises additional questions regarding the incident. Two shots are heard in the video after the vehicle stopped and the driver was removed.
Mustafa Nimr, 27, grew up in the camp but was living in Ramat Gan with his Jewish girlfriend. He and Ali had returned from a night out in Anata to the family home in Shoafat on Monday before dawn. His brother and Mustafa’s girlfriend rode in the car behind. When they reached the camp, police officers who had been in the camp for a raid opened fired on them.
Police initially claimed that Ali had tried to run over the police officers. Mustafa was shot several times and died soon afterward. Ali was hit and moderately wounded.
Eyewitnesses denied that the car had endangered police. They said the two cars carrying the men and women were in a race and the drivers didn’t even notice the police, who were dressed in black and stood in a dark spot. The Channel 10 video shows them threatening Ali and pulling him forcefully from the car. After he is seen lying on the ground, with Mustafa wounded or dead, two more shots are heard, whose source is unclear.
Ali, who is still hospitalized, is no longer a terror suspect, but rather is suspected of driving without a license, driving while intoxicated and vehicular endangerment. The public defender representing him said he claims he was not traveling at high speed and did not hear the police call on him to stop, and that he didn’t try to hit anybody. His remand was extended by two days.
Police said, “Immediately after the incident the Police Investigation Unit was briefed, and the matter has been transferred to them for examination.”

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Monday at dawn, the Shu’fat refugee camp, northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, killed one Palestinian and seriously wounded another, after firing many live rounds at their car.
The Israeli army presented two conflicting narratives on the event, one talking about armed confrontations between the soldiers and armed resistance fighters in the refugee camp, and another about an alleged attempted ramming attack, followed by a stabbing attempt, targeting the soldiers.
Medical sources later identified the slain young Palestinian man as Mustafa Nimir, 24, from the Salaam area in Anata town, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.
Palestinian medics rushed to the site, but the soldiers stopped them and prevented them from providing the needed aid to the Palestinians.
The wounded Palestinian has been identified as Ali Nimir, 28; he was shot with a live round in his thigh, and was moved to Hadassah Israeli medical center in Jerusalem.
The Israeli army said one of its soldiers was injured, reportedly by Palestinian fire, during the invasion.
Local sources in Shu’fat said many local youths hurled stones at the invading army vehicles in the camp, while the army fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers also kidnapped the wounded Palestinian, and took him to an unknown destination.

Palestinian shot dead by army while bringing home food, baby clothes, grieving mother recounts
Publshed Sept 5, 8 pm
JERUSALEM (Ma’an) -- Eyewitnesses to the killing of 27-year-old Mustafa Nimir -- shot dead early Monday morning when Israeli forces showered the vehicle he was travelling in with live fire -- have denied the Israeli police’s narrative that claimed Mustafa and the driver of the vehicle were attempting a car ramming attack.
Israeli forces also shot and injured the driver, Ali Tayser Nimir, Mustafa’s 25-year-old brother-in-law. His condition was initially reported as moderate and he was evacuated by Israeli ambulances to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. A spokesperson for the hospital told Ma’an they were looking into his medical condition.
The two came under live fire while driving near clashes that erupted between local youth and Israeli soldiers during a military raid in Shufat refugee camp.
Mustafa Nimir’s grieving mother told Ma’an hours after her son was killed that on Sunday evening, Mustafa and Ali left the house in Shufat refugee camp, located just north of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, to visit Mustafa’s big brother.
“Mustafa called me at midnight to tell me that he and Ali were still at his brother’s house.”
Hours later, at 4 a.m. on Monday, Mustafa was killed.
His mother was shocked by the news. “(When I spoke to Mustafa on the phone), he said they were bringing us food and new clothes for Ali’s daughter,” she told Ma’an, rejecting the claim that the two were planning a car ramming attack on Israeli soldiers.
She called the Israeli police narrative “an excuse to justify killing Palestinians.”
