RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 10 Palestinians in night and predawn raids between Monday and Tuesday, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), four Palestinians were detained in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron. The organization identified them as Rajah Ahmad Abu Ajamya, 45, from the al-Fawwar refugee camp, as well as Hamza Ahmad Abu Hashim, 18, Rashid Moussa Adel Salibi, 19, and Ward Ibrahim Yousif Awad, 15, from Beit Ummar.
Awad’s brother, Jaafar Awad, died in April 2015 after suffering from serious health complications while imprisoned in Israeli custody. His cousin Ziyad Awad was shot and killed by Israeli forces during Jaafar’s funeral.
Local activist Muhammad Ayad Awad told Ma’an that Israeli forces clashed with residents in the area of Beit Ummar and fired sound bombs. No injuries were reported.
In the northern West Bank city of Jenin, PPS reported that Israeli forces had detained Mustafa al- Naqery, who had previously spent 14 years held in Israeli custody, his son Ahmad, and Ahmad Abu Kharj.
PPS also reported one Palestinian, identified as Salah Jumaa, 23, was detained in Qalqiliya, and two residents of occupied East Jerusalem, Hamas Ashayer and minor Ashraf Hijazi.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army told Ma’an that they had records of six Palestinians being detained overnight, noting three detentions in Beit Ummar and three in Jenin.
Israeli forces carry out detentions raids on a near-nightly basis across the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestinian prisoners’ rights group Addameer, some 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of July.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Tuesday at dawn, the Jenin refugee camp and Ya’bad town, in the northern West Bank district of Jenin, searched homes and kidnapped four Palestinians.
The Jenin office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the soldiers invaded the home of a former political prisoner, identified as Mustafa al-Qoneiri, and kidnapped him along with his son, Ahmad.
It added that the soldiers also kidnapped Ahmad Abu Kharj, after invading his home and searching it.
In Ya’bad town, the soldiers invaded a few homes, searched them, and kidnapped Yousef Ahmad Masharqa.
